"Is this really fair?" (pg. 2) Some colleges decide who gets in by their essays more than things like your grade point average. I don't think this is fair at all, because for my career choice is in music - not writing essays! So why should I be accepted by one stupid essay when I could have a perfect grade in marching band!?
Maybe because it's easier to look at one essay than your grade point average, all of your recommendations, and SAT scores, but I still think that's no excuse. If colleges do this than I wouldn't want to attend the college anyway because they want to take the lazy way out. And how you can get in by writing about tofu or humiliation and might make it onto college ahead of someone who wrote about a huge scientific discovery they made when they were 15makes me mad, too! You can treat the essay like a joke and still get in higher that a young genius doesn't seem fair to me!
